Surrealism began in the early 1920s and was an unusual movement in that surrealist art works were filled with juxtapositions, and surprising compositions of matter as well as new perspectives. Surrealism was formed by Andre Breton as a response to Dadaism and was based in Paris. Surrealism was more philosophical and depicted unlikely compositions.
